When life gets mundane,
show us the beauty of your creation O God.
When life is broken,
show us the hidden wholeness at the heart of all things.
When life is overwhelming,
remind us of our resilience and strength.
Be with all of us today, and with all your creation.
Move us away from greed and violence,
gently nudge us to peace and love.
Amen.

When Life Gets Mundane

Roger,
I came across your poetry during a search for opening words for a lay led service at our UU church in Bradenton FL. I’m originally from the Bethesda Chevy Chase area of Maryland and I went to a summer camp run by the Butts family north of Rockville. I learned to ride a horse there as well. Are you by any chance related to that family? I have good memories of that time in my life. p.s. Thank you for sharing your poetry.
I’m so glad to hear from you. I am not related to that family, but I spent time at the UU Church in Bethesda called River Road. Glad you like my poetry and prayers. All the best, Roger Butts
