The word of the day is “fear.”

We’re all afraid, and if we’re not, we ought to be. This pandemic is unlike anything this generation has ever witnessed, and it’s a terrifying time. And yet.

And yet, even amidst the fear, we’re seeing the best of humanity. People are showing themselves for who they are, for better or worse. There’s a unity to be found, a light in the darkness of the pandemic. Holding onto that is difficult; my grip is weak and I am afraid, but hold on I must, through blood and sweat and more tears than I care to admit.

I avoid the panic to the best of my ability. I stay informed. I watch the videos of people helping each other, of people singing across distances, and I am reminded that there is always hope. As afraid as I am, I know, one way or another, Earth abides.
